What was the book that got you hooked on romance? I can not remember the title of the first romance book I have ever read but I do remember who published it and who wrote it. My first book was a Harlequin Presents book written by Anne Mather. I remember it being about a Sheik and since that time, I have loved contemporary stories that have to do with handsome Sheiks. I still love reading Harlequin Presents books today, next to their historical series, Harlequin Presents are one of my favorites not to mention the fact that John has done many Harlequin Presents covers which is definitely incentive to buy them. Grin  Thinking back to the first book that  hooked me on to historical romance, I would have to say Johanna Lindsey. I read every book released by her back in the late 80's and she is still a favorite with me today. I was not the avid reader back then that I am now but I have always enjoyed a good romantic read. As I got older though, I found myself wanting to be taken away by them. There is nothing like sitting down with a romance book and immersing yourself in the story. A good romance warms the heart and makes you believe in happily ever after. I will always be grateful to Harlequin, Anne Mather and Johanna Lindsey for opening the doors to the wonderful world of romance books.

My very first "romance" book that I read was The Flame and The Flower by Kathleen E Woodiwiss and I haven't stopped reading them since.  One of my all time favorite book is Sweet Savage Love by Rosemary Rogers which is no longer politically correct.

I can not think of a better book to read your first time then "The Flame and the Flower."  I have read that book and it was an awesome story and it sure could hook you on the historical romance genre.  I keep trying to think of the name of that Anne Mather book I read, but it has been a long long time since I read it and the name just eludes me, lol. Roll Eyes  I did remember the author was Anne Mather as after reading that book, I so enjoyed it, that I went out looking for more by her. I have never read Sweet Savage Love but from the reviews I see it has on Amazon, I can certainly see why it would be a favorite of yours.

I read my first romance book when I was in 7th grade in 91.
I remember I bought two books at the grocery store on New Years Eve when it was going to turn 91.

Welcome back Melissa! Wow you started reading them young! I was in high school when I read my first romance book. Do you remember what the names of the books were or who the authors were? All I can remember about my first book was that it was a Harlequin and by Anne Mather and I am sure it was about a Sheik. To this day, I still love Harlequin books particularly Harlequin Presents and Harlequin Historical.  John has done so many beautiful covers for them too.

I still have them around someplace but I can't find them right now.
I can't remember the names or authors.
I do remember the very first eomance I read was a Desire series book.
I didn't read them very often just every once in a while.
I didn't start reading them full time until I was out of high school.
